Communication Class Collects Books for Treasure Valley YMCA

Boise State University’s COMM 356 class is seeking donations of books to the Treasure Valley YMCAs. The program’s goal is to establish book exchanges in two Boise YMCA childcare facilities: Washington Street Y’s Kids and 9th Street Y’s Kids. Organizer’s have chosen the YMCA because it is a well-established organization with stable facilities that provides services to families.

The initial inventory of books for the exchanges will be gathered during a community book drive to be held through May 1, 2009. Trading Pages, a team affiliated with BSU’s Small Group Communication class (COMM356), is committed to increasing the availability of and supply of books to assist in childhood development and learning, and increase community literacy rates.

People wanting to donate books can bring them to the Dean’s Office in the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs, 7th Floor of the Education Building.
